Lecture – UX Design (engl.)

8. June 2021 von 11:3012:45 CEST

Nick Hart, Wholegrain Digital – Web Design for People and Planet

The internet has huge potential to move us towards a sustainable future. But the storage, processing and transmission of data consumes electricity and raises CO2 emissions. The good news is: websites can be green and therefore better for everyone. Approaching web projects through the lens of sustainability can have benefits not just for the environment, but also in terms of improved SEO, accessibility, user experience, mental health and even cost savings. We’ll look at some practical steps to green the web and the benefits that they bring to us as humans.

Wholegrain Digital is a digital agency in London specialising in design and development of WordPress websites for positive organisations. Known as a trailblazer in eco-friendly web design and led by Tom Greenwood, author of the book, Sustainable Web Design, Wholegrain is a Certified “B Corporation” on a mission to make sustainability a core value of the digital industry. The company has led a number of industry initiatives including WebsiteCarbon.com and the Sustainable Web Manifesto.

This lecture is held in English.

Nick is a Digital Project Manager at Wholegrain Digital in London. Originally a designer and front-end web developer, he leads teams to deliver solutions that are good for both people and planet.
Nick used to moonlight as an actor for a living, which is where his love of storytelling comes from. He actually started designing websites for arts organisations while he was puppeteering the head of Joey in the West End show, War Horse!
