Dr. Laura Henn – Environmental psychology: Dedicated people in sustainability-promoting environments

During the talk, an environmental psychological perspective will give insights into drivers, facilitators and barriers for sustainable behavior. Both, the external world and the internal mental processes need to be considered in order to understand people’s sustainability-related thinking and behavior. The aim of the presentation is to stimulate exchange on how knowledge from environmental psychology can be harvested to support people’s sustainable thinking and acting by design and art.

The lecture will be held in English.

Laura Henn is a researcher at the Center for Environmental Systems Research at the Universität Kassel. As an environmental psychologist, she is dedicated to the overarching question of how psychological knowledge about the interaction of humans with their environment can help to promote sustainable lifestyles. In her research, she investigates how people’s internal dedication to environmental protection coupled with the external situational conditions determine more or less sustainable behavior.
