In July, we will be entering into new territory: Due to Covid-19 restrictions, our symposium ECO DESIGN FORUM international (EDF) will take place virtually. For the first time ever, people from all over the globe will be able to participate both in our online workshops and the exciting networking evening. That’s what the EDF is all about: We highlight the intercultural exchange by asking the question of how an increasing number of creative thinkers can discover their societal and ecopolitical mission. We connect our expert audience, share knowledge and encourage and inspire people to develop new projects in the sense of positive globalisation. You can register here.

Last year at the ökoRAUSCH Festival for Design and Sustainability in the Museum of Applied Art Cologne (MAKK), we presented the exhibition ökoRAUSCH Wissenswelt for the first time, which was designed by our co-organiser Stadt Land Welt e.V. The knowledge exhibit ties in with the work of the designers and artists in the ökoRAUSCH exhibit in a way that makes the ecological and social background of this work more tangible for the audience. Why is it necessary to develop new, resource-efficient ways to deal with materials? Why are we committed to gender equality? Which tools can be used to make the implementation of societal visions a reality?

The ökoRAUSCH Wissenswelt exhibition can be borrowed as a traveling exhibition upon request. It can be sent within the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to associations, NGOs, cultural and social institutions, design events, sustainability markets and fairs as well as cities. We at ökoRAUSCH hope you enjoy the RAUSCH!

What’s all the RAUSCH about?

The German words “Rausch” or “Rauschen” can mean different things. ‘’Rausch’’ is a state of intoxication, ecstasy or trance; “Rauschen” is the sound of trees rustling in the wind or waves hitting the shore but it also describes irritating background noise. The RAUSCH in ökoRAUSCH stands for a mixture of all these. For us it means breaking with the “norm” and being in a flow of creativity, new experiences and optimism. We’re ecstatic about the prospect of how sustainability, design, art and action can come together to create a brighter future that’s also healthy for us and our planet. That said, we invite you to be irritated, to challenge your perspective, but most of all to join us in a state of positive, sustainable activism that is excited about the futures we can create! Now that you know: come RAUSCH with us!

New, different, online! Our ECO DESIGN FORUM international (EDF) will take place virtually for the first time, and with that, it will be the first time that interested people from across the globe can join in the discussion – in our online presentations, workshops and at the big networking event. Another new feature is our coaching programme where participants can benefit from the expertise of the contributors in one-on-one meetings!

From June 7 to 30, 2021, the focus of the presentations, workshops, the big networking event and in the new coaching programme will be this year’s topics of Environmental Psychology, UX Design and Community Design/Changemaking.

Let yourself fall into a RAUSCH of sustainability and design, of diversity and inspiration, of art and transformation! Each aspect of the Festival is focused on ideas and concepts of transformation toward a more resource-oriented and responsible society – be it the innovative exhibits or the fresh communication of knowledge! Get inspired by our exhibitors and contributors from the creative industries, culture, science and society! Discover, explore and discuss a world of tomorrow in which we all want to live.

Focus of interest of the ECO DESIGN FORUM (EDF) international are the stories of designers all over the world who explore green ideas and develop sustainable products.
