Lecture

Disarmingly unadorned: authenticity as an opportunity

Christof Schreckenberg, Feldstärken

More and more people have the desire to combine individuality with an environmentally-friendly lifestyle. And the stronger the sustainability is differentiated, the more authenticity it gains. Are new niche market trends developing from this? Where are current trends going? To what extent can products become a statement for sustainability, cultural and social identities? What opportunities does that offer artists and designers in the context of the cultural and creative economies?

Lecture

Ecodesign with Life Cycle Thinking

Susanne Volz, ecocircle concept

Due to the scarcity of raw materials and resources, sustainable product development is long overdue. Inspiring concepts like using renewable resources, or design products biodegradable are, however, just part of the solution. To allow the benefits of such approaches to really kick in, we have to know and understand the environmental impacts of products during their life cycle. In this presentation, we have a look on how Life Cycle Thinking can add to sustainable product development.

Workshop

Authentic Branding for sustainable design

Christof Schreckenberg, Feldstärken

Establishing my market (access) with my own talent and beliefs: applying the principles of the effectuation approach, we lay the focus on rapid action, error management and involving our partners. In this workshop we would like to run though this process using the example of one of your current or planned projects, so as to plan concrete steps. There are clear parallels between artistic work methods, design thinking and digital-economic work methods.

Workshop

Ecodesign with Life Cycle Thinking

Susanne Volz, ecocircle concept

To meet the requirements of good Ecodesign, a product has to be sustainable in its entirety. A claim made easy enough. But what does that mean in concrete terms?

In this workshop we will deal with this challenge by analyzing and discussing real product examples. The workshop will be tutored by an environmental scientist, who specialized in sustainable product development. In this workshop you will learn how to ask environmental questions at a products life cycle in order to get reasonable answers.
